I've been a trustee of the Royal Cambrian Academy for the last three years.

Updated: 2 days ago

I am proud to be an elected member of the Royal Cambrian Academy, where I have served on their council as a trustee for the past three years. The organisation, was established in 1881 as the Welsh equivalent of the Royal Academy in London and is dedicated to championing Welsh contemporary art. With just over 100 members across Wales, it offers an exhibition and education program, providing a platform for both established and emerging artists to ensure that Welsh art continues to thrive for generations to come. It's shocking to see from the photograph above that there were originally no women, however I'm happy to report that we now have many female members and Ann Lewis is our current President.

Originally, I intended to serve as a trustee for two years, yet I stayed for three! The time has come for me to step down to allow others to bring fresh ideas and enthusiasm to our beloved organisation. I have thoroughly enjoyed the lively debate around electing new members and playing a part in securing the Academy’s future in challenging times. It has been a privilege to contribute to such an important institution, and I look forward to seeing it continue to flourish as a member.
