Each week, you'll tackle a variety of drawing exercises designed to spark creativity within a welcoming peer community that will enable artistic exchange.

What Will You Learn?

Measured drawing, mindfulness drawing, continuous line, contour, and gestural drawing, light and shade, composition, structure, the use of negative space, contextual studies - from the old masters to contemporary artists, tools and techniques such as grids, projection, and modern drawing technologies.

Teaching:

Susan Liggett is a Chester-based artist who studied at the Royal Academy Schools, where the teaching philosophy was rooted in classical academic drawing principles, focusing on observation, proportion, anatomy, perspective and light. Susan believes in the importance of drawing in all its broadest forms, and taught fine art at Wrexham University for over 20 years. Recently she transitioned to be a full-time artist and offers occasional courses to share her passion for art.

What Will You Need?

Materials will be supplied for the first week. After that, you’ll need to bring your own supplies, including a variety of pencils, pens, charcoal, paper/sketchbook, and an eraser. Large paper will be available for sale.
